Enuit’s Expansion in India: Strengthening Local ETRM Capabilities and Pursuing New Opportunities

In a recent discussion featured on ComTech Advisory, Kumar Manickam, who leads Enuit's operations in India, shared insights into the company's growing presence and strategy in the region. This conversation offers a closer look at how Enuit is navigating and capitalizing on the opportunities in the Indian market.

Building the Indian Entity

Kumar, who transitioned from Enuit’s Singapore office to set up the Indian operations, detailed the challenges and achievements of establishing a new entity focused on services. Now boasting a team of over 25 staff members, the Indian business unit has rapidly scaled to support Enuit’s global implementation projects. Kumar’s efforts in navigating local regulations, setting up essential business processes such as accounting, payroll, and staffing, have been pivotal in this expansion.

Focus on Development and Support

While initially focused on services, the Indian operation is enhancing its capabilities by adding development and support staff. “Indian staff contribute across all aspects of Enuit’s global presence,” Kumar explained in the ComTech blog. A significant priority for this year is to build out global support, already covering Europe and planning to extend to APAC and the Americas.

Engaging the Indian Market

The Indian market, known for its cost-conscious approach, has traditionally relied on internal solutions rather than external vendor software for CTRM systems. However, Kumar notes a shift in this trend, driven by increased exposure to global standards. He highlighted the impact of last year’s India Energy Week, which catalyzed interest among Indian energy firms in exploring best-in-class vendor solutions like those offered by Enuit.

Currently, Enuit is actively involved in at least three bids in India and is optimistic about its prospects. With a solid local presence and growing expertise, Enuit is poised to capture significant opportunities. Additionally, the company is exploring partnerships within India to further aid its business development efforts.

Looking Ahead

Kumar remains positive about the market potential despite the challenges, stating, “We are very positive about this market even though we know that it will be a challenge.” Enuit's strategic initiatives in India demonstrate the company's commitment to not only expanding its global footprint but also integrating deeply with local markets to better serve and understand its customers.
